NaNoWriMo

November first marks the first day of National Novel Writing Month. This is the first year that I'm daring to participate. Have I ever written a novel before? Well... no. Not fully. I suppose that's not true... When I was in grade 6 I wrote a 60 page story about a fairy boarding school. However, there was no plot and the writing is horrendous. I've written countless stories and books since then, but I've never written and completed a full novel. I have the same problem every time that I start a novel. I can write all the way up to the climax no problem, but from there, I am stuck. I never know how to end it. What's a good way to end a novel? Everything seems to cheesy. I don't want to leave anything untouched, but at the same time, I don't want to make the ending into a "laundry list" of endings all raveling together for every character. This will be something that I'll have to get over if I plan to be at all successful during November.

I haven't even came up with a decent plot yet. I have no idea what I want to write. My ideas range from a magical school (how original, right?) to life on the Prairie during the days of traveling on the wagon train along the Oregon Trail and settling down into a life of living off of the land. No characters. No plot. No setting. I'm not at all prepared for this challenge.

Oh what am I getting myself into?

Am I alone in this? Or is anyone else taking the challenge along with me?
